David Liu

Director

David is the litigation partner and the problem-solver of the firm.

Immigrated to New Zealand in 1995, David has spent more than half of his life in New Zealand. He graduated from the University of Auckland in 2004 and he has a deep and fundamental understanding of the kiwi way of thinking as well as the Chinese way of life, which enables him to provide his clients with cultural insights on how to achieve the best outcomes.

David has a strong focus on civil and commercial litigation. His notable/reported cases include:

Anita Yang

Director

Anita is the property partner of the firm. She specialises in trusts, succession planning and property/commercial transactions with a strong focus on complex subdivisions and residential developments.

Anita is task oriented. She offers clear and pragmatic advice to her clients and always have their best interests at heart.

Anita holds a Bachelor's Degree in both Law and Commerce.

Henry Woodhouse

Director

Henry graduated with a BA/LLB from the University of Auckland in 2008 and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2009.

Henry started his career in civil litigation, before gaining commercial experience as In-House Counsel for a leading business brokerage in Auckland. Following this, he spent a period of time in business sales before moving back into the law, practicing in a successful suburban firm gaining experience in property, general commercial and related areas.

Henry enjoys helping clients achieve practical and cost-effective solutions to legal matters and can assist clients in both the litigation and commercial spheres.

Jun Yu

Consultant

Jun is the founder of the firm and a specialist in business, corporate and commercial consulting services.

After graduating from Shanghai International Studies University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in Foreign Affairs Management in 1994, he migrated to New Zealand in 1995.

He graduated from the University of Auckland with a law degree in 2001 and has practiced law since. Before founding the firm in 2004, he worked as a staff solicitor for a medium sized law firm in Auckland CBD. Over the years, he, along with his partners and colleagues, have provided quality legal services to his clients.

Jun relocated to Hong Kong with his family in 2012 to head up the firm’s Hong Kong office. During his time in Hong Kong he has served many of the firm’s overseas clients and acted as legal consultant for many Hong Kong-based firms including a HKEX listed company. He possesses considerable knowledge in the field of commercial law, conveyancing, company mergers and acquisitions, securities law and contract disputes.

Jun is qualified to practice law in both New Zealand and United Kingdom jurisdictions.

Simon Yang

Solicitor

Simon graduated from the University of Auckland where he earned an LLB/BCom degree (economics & international business).

He joined Heritage Law in 2021. Simon is a team player who is approachable and hard working. He focuses on a collaborative approach in achieving the best possible solutions for his clients.

Prior to joining Heritage Law, Simon worked in immigration law, where he protected families from deportation and helped them smoothly settle into New Zealand.

Helen Yang

Registered Legal Executive

Helen graduated with a Master of Laws degree in China where she worked as a journalist and editor for a national newspaper for 10 years. She came to New Zealand in 2000 and qualified as a Legal Executive in 2004. She is presently a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Legal Executives.

Helen is an experienced conveyancer with extensive knowledge in residential and commercial conveyancing, subdivision, trusts, leases, financing and complex business transactions.

Helen takes great pride in her work with no task too big or small.

Jennifer Yan

Legal Executive

Previously the Administration Manager of a multi-national firm managing 20+ staff, Jennifer joined the firm in 2012 to escape the corporate rat-race in search of a better work-life balance. She brought with her a wealth of knowledge in corporate management and she qualified as a Legal Executive after joining the firm.

Jennifer is fluent in English and Mandarin. She communicates effectively with clients and is always focused on fulfilling their needs and expectations.

Outside work, Jennifer enjoys travelling and spending time with friends and family.

Cecilia Zhao

Legal Secretary

Cecilia graduated from Massey University with a Master’s Degree in Finance.

She has a wealth of experience working in different sectors, and she joined the firm in 2021 seeking developments in the legal field.

Cecilia has a passion for work and a positive and optimistic outlook. She provides strong support for the firm’s authors through her highly efficient administration and multitasking skills.

Alicia Butler

Law Clerk

Alicia graduated from the University of Auckland in 2022 where she earned a LLB degree. She joined Heritage Law in 2023 as a Law Clerk.

Alicia has a passion for family law and relationship property matters, and she strives to become a family law specialist.

Alicia is a keen golfer and tennis player – prior to joining Heritage Law she coached tennis at a local tennis club, and she still tries to squeeze in an odd set or two during the weekends.

Jean Wang

Administrative Assistant

Jean joined Heritage Law in 2022 as part of the Administrative Team. She graduated from Massey University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Accountancy and Quantity Surveying degree.

With prior experience spanning multiple sectors, Jean is committed to delivering exceptional professional service and timely assistance to the firm’s clients.
